Assisted Living Centre

Choosing assisted living is not about giving up—it is about ensuring your parents receive the care, safety, and support they deserve every day. It allows families to replace constant worry and caregiving stress with the confidence that their loved one is living in a secure, compassionate, and enriching environment.
At Aaji Care, assisted living is centred around the individual, not just their medical needs. Across our dementia-friendly centres in India, we offer both short- and long-term stays with 24/7 nursing care, personalised nutrition, meaningful social engagement, cognitive and physical activities, and holistic support that helps every resident live with comfort, dignity, and purpose.

ASSISTED LIVING VS OLD AGE HOME

Assisted Living vs Old Age Home — What Is the Difference?

Most families searching for care start with the phrase “old age home”, then quickly realise they are looking for something different. Here is the honest comparison.

A TYPICAL DAY AT AAJI CARE

A Typical Day at Aaji Care

Families ask us this question more than any other: “What will my parent’s day actually look like?” Here is the honest answer.

Morning

Your parent wakes at their usual time — not a fixed institutional hour. Breakfast is personalised to their dietary needs and preferences. The caregiver helps with hygiene, dressing, and medication if needed. Some residents join the morning yoga or garden walk. Others prefer a quiet cup of milk/tea/coffee with a newspaper.

Afternoon

After lunch, there are activities — but participation is always a choice, never a schedule. Depending on the day: some brain games, a music session, reminiscence group, physiotherapy, a visit from a family member, or simply a nap. The doctor does a daily round for residents with medical needs.

Evening

Evening is often the most social time. Dinner together, a favourite television programme, or a call with family. For residents with dementia, the team ensures the sundowning routine is in place — reduced stimulation, familiar sounds, a consistent wind-down.

Night

24/7 nursing staff are on call through the night. Your parent is never alone. If anything changes — medically or emotionally — it is documented, responded to, and communicated to the family by morning.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — Assisted Living

Honest answers to the questions we hear most from families across Mumbai, Pune, and Goa.

Yes. Aaji Care centres are your parent’s home, and families are welcome. We ask that you check visiting hours with the Care Manager at your centre so visits do not clash with medical rounds, therapy sessions or rest time. For families living abroad, video calls are arranged and daily updates are shared through a dedicated family WhatsApp group.

The monthly fee covers accommodation, three personalised meals a day with dietary customisation, 24/7 nursing care and caregiver support, daily doctor rounds for residents with medical needs, physiotherapy and mobility support, housekeeping and laundry, medication management, and social and cognitive activities. Psychologists trained in geriatric care are part of the team. Costs vary by centre and care level, so ask us for a written breakdown.

Care plans are reviewed as needs change. If your parent needs more medical support, the Care Manager coordinates with our nursing team and the visiting doctor to adjust the plan, and your family is informed before anything changes. Our D.N. Nagar centre has an intensive medical unit, and every centre has tie-ups with major hospitals in each city for emergency escalation.

Yes. Dementia care is one of our core services. Our specialized team includes caregivers trained in dementia support as well as psychologists trained in geriatric care, and our Pune Kalyani Nagar centre has a dedicated dementia floor. We manage wandering, sundowning, aggression and refusal of care, with structured routines and cognitive engagement built into every day.

Yes. We offer short-term stays alongside long-term residency. Families use short stays for respite care, for recovery after surgery or hospitalisation, or as a trial period before deciding on something longer. It is often the easiest way for a parent to experience the centre without a long commitment. Speak to us about availability at your preferred centre.

Staffing is planned around the care level each resident needs, so the ratio differs between assisted living residents and those needing intensive or dementia care. Every centre runs 24/7 nursing cover across day and night shifts, with a trained backup bench so cover never drops during leave or an unplanned gap. Ask the Care Manager at your chosen centre for its current staffing numbers.

Yes. Meals are planned around each resident’s dietary needs, medical restrictions and personal preferences, not a single fixed menu. Diabetic, low-salt, soft and pureed diets are all catered for, and food preferences are treated as part of the care plan rather than an extra. Three personalised meals a day are included in the monthly fee.

Every centre has 24/7 nursing staff on call, documented emergency escalation protocols, and tie-ups with major hospitals in each city. If something changes medically, the nursing team responds immediately, the doctor is looped in, and your family is informed. Our D.N. Nagar centre is co-located with Bellevue Nursing Home, and every shift is logged so nothing is missed.
